So what is Petesfriends.com? This site was created by my wife Janean as a service to our friends who are unfortunately incarcerated in N.Y.’s prison system. There’s a big difference between Petesfriends.com and other inmate pen-pal services. All the other prison pen-pal sites out there will take ads from any prisoner, regardless of who they are or what they are in prison for. You just never know who you’ll be writing to.

The men on Petesfriends.com are actually my friends in here. I know these guys, I know what they’ve done, and I know they are decent men who have just made some mistakes in life. These guys don’t pay anything to be on Petesfriends.com - These are all men whom I’ve invited to be here because I think They’re worthy of being here and are good men who deserve a chance. These are good white men looking for good white women to write to and maybe become friends.

As for me, I was so very lucky. I met Janean back in 1995. Strange as it sounds, I was reading a comic book of all things and came across a letter written to the editor by Janean, and her address was printed. Well,. I didn’t agree with what Janean had written, and since I had her address I wrote her a letter to discuss things. Soon we went from exchanging letters about comic books to becoming full-fledged pen-pals. We exchanged letters for almost 3 years and Janean became the best friend I ever had. We discussed anything and everything, listened to each others problems, and had such a good time.

• Our First Visit

In 1997, after years of writing letters, Janean came to see me for the first time. We went to that first visit expecting to meet the friend we’d been writing to for the past three years and we left that visit in love. Its not something that either of us expected… it just happened. We clicked, big time, and we haven’t looked back since. Janean and I have been married since July 2, 1998 and she is still the best friend I’ve ever had. We’ve had our highs and lows over the years, and our marriage has thrived no matter what. Sure, its difficult sometimes, not being able to always be with each other all the time, but we’ve always managed to deal with it and its made our times together all the more special. Our marriage isn’t perfect, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Now I’m not saying you will find true love by writing to one of the men on Petesfriends.com - that might not be what your looking for or what the guy is looking for. Instead, what I think and hope you’ll fInd is a friend who will always be there for you and vice-versa. These are good guys who deserve a shot, so why not give them a try. All it will cost you is a few minutes of your time to write a letter and a stamp to mail it. You never know what you’ll find and I suspect you’ll be pleased, so why not give it a shot?
